Topographic map layout with a georeferenced orthophoto background and thematic layers such as boundaries, contours, and site features, delivered as a PDF plan.

Topographic mapping

Topographic maps represent the natural and man-made terrain shape of a defined area and important geographic features. Depending on the requirements, this can include elevation information, landforms, and the location of water bodies, vegetation, roads, buildings, and other relevant objects.

Based on photogrammetric or terrestrial survey data, we produce high-detail topographic maps suitable for planning, documentation, and analysis across many industries.

As a map background, we typically use a rectified and georeferenced orthophoto. This makes many details visible directly from the imagery without having to vectorize every feature. On top of the orthophoto, we add thematic layers such as contours, roads, buildings, boundaries, or parcels.

Depending on the industry, additional content can be integrated, for example for open-pit mining, quarries, or landfills:
– digitized breaklines
– haul roads / tracks
– technical infrastructure
– visualization of terrain changes, for example as part of volume and mass calculations (see also “Volume and mass calculations”)
